My amazing Friend Gem Speeden recently posted on facebook about these guys, and now I can't stop looking at their stuff!
My mother and sisters have been wanting to set up a fabric design and printing company since I can remember, these are JUST the type of things that inspire me and remind me of our dream.
One day, it will happen, so stay tuned folks :)
For now though, check out some of their lovely prints and stationary.
Last night I was lucky enough to see Alice in Wonderland at the Royal Opera House, This new ballet created by Christopher Wheeldon was nothing short of breathtaking. It was cleaver, whitty and completely smothered in fun! I left feeling quite enchanted.
Before I went to see it I made an effort not to read any reviews or hear anyone's opinion of it, so I would have a clear mind about it, and I am so glad too! My godmother is head of scenic department (very proud goddaughter!) so I had seen her drawings of the scenery back in October, but to see them completed was really quite spectacular, it's so strange seeing something as a simple sketch and then completed as an incredible work of art, some people really are amazing. My favorite scene of the evening was the Croquet scene in the Queen of Hearts garden, it was filled with humor and spark, the colors where amazing. It was lovely to see Lauren Cuthbertson dance, as she's one of the only principals I hadn't seen yet, she was charming and absolutely perfect for Alice, she's just so lovely to watch, very lucid/dreamy. Edward Watson was stunning, as he always is. BUT my all time favorite was definitely Zenaida! She made a brilliant Queen of Hearts. and of course Joby Talbot has done an amazing job as i think everyone knew he would, I loved Chroma but really wasn't expecting Alice to be so breathtaking... Absolutely worth seeing if you can.

So Its about time i started doing some more local bands, and why not start with the best!? Dave Baxter- the heart and soul of Avalanche city- is a truly remarkably talented guy. His sweet sweet tunes reek to the high heavens of adventures at sea, and sunny days chasing the wind with loved ones. Its the kind of music that makes you want to climb out of your window and go exploring. Its enough to make anyone fall in love with life.
Copeland! one of my all time favorite bands, all the way from Lakeland, Florida these four boys really know how to make music.
Dreamy and solemn there songs cut to the core and hit you where it really matters, they are one of those bands that no matter how your feeling, their music just has the ability to get you wherever you at.
I wish i could have seen them play live, i am afraid i missed them by just a few weeks when i was in america, wrong place wrong time!
Its about time i posted something on these guys. Probably the most under stated band in THE WORLD. probably. Truth be told, today was the first time i listened to this song and actually "Listened" (thanks to Gilla) and because i got all intrigued i even looked up the lyrics, glad i did too, amaazin' as all Weezer songs are. p.s sometimes i wish i was japanese.
You are 18 year old girl who live in small city in Japan. You heard me, on the radio. About one year ago and you wanted to know, all about me, and my hobbies. My favorite food and my birthday
Why are you so far away from me? I need help and you're way across the sea I could never touch you - I think it would be wrong I've got your letter you've got my song
They don't make stationery like this where I'm from - so fragile, so refined So I sniff and I lick your envelope and fall to little pieces every time I wonder what clothes you wear to school I wonder how you decorate your room I wonder how you touch yourself and curse myself for being across the sea
Why are you so far away from me? I need help and you're way across the sea I could never touch you - I think it would be wrong I've got your letter you've got my song
At 10 I shaved my head and tried to be a monk I thought the older women would like me if i did You see mom, I'm a good little boy It's all your fault, momma. It's all your fault
Goddamn, this business is really lame I gotta live on an island to find the juice So you send me your love from all around the world As if I could live on words and dreams and a million screams oh, how I need a hand in mine to feel.
Why are you so far away from me? Why are you so far away from me? I could never touch you - I think it would be wrong I've got your letter you've got my song I've got your letter you've got my song
My long lost love, So i realized today (thank you shuffle) that my music taste has been rather scrambled the last few years and that i had forgotten about so many bands that used to, well i'd (almost) say define me in a way (not sayin thats a good thing, just that thats how into them i was) bands like Converge, Bane, and these boys. I used to listen to these guys almost everyday, now its once in a blue moon, if that! What has happened to me! kinda scary, so to honor them and try to pick up where i left. Here's some goodness for ya!
Jaymay (Jamie Seerman) is my find of the night. This darling New York lady that well, no one seems to know much about... apart from the thousands of rumors that is. mmbop but who listens to those anyway? *shrugs* music is all
Post hardcore was definitely at its best in the 1990's. Along with At The Drive In, these guys (to me) top the list of the worlds greatest, fresh blooded and not afraid to get down and dirty, they brought to the scene exactly what it was needing.
I stumbled upon Miss Hannigan quite by mistake, her relaxing, almost annoyingly carefree voice is helplessly captivating, it picks you up and takes you on a wonderfully unpredictable journey.
Her music is in no way simple, but is portrayed in a very simple way, leaving it to explain itself and stand on its own two feat, Which it does brilliantly. I'm quite surprised (and annoyed) that i have only recently stumbled upon her music, i wish i had heard it all so much sooner.
So far this is my favorite, but i know its only a matter of time before i discover another i like even more. Enjoy.
